QUALITY ENGINEER II

Position Summary

Our client is in need of a Quality Engineer with an electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial or physics degree, and relevant experience. In this position you’ll work with in house engineering design teams, remote production teams , as well as vendors to resolve quality problems; you’ll also propose and implement product and process quality improvement programs, perform analysis on key quality indicators using industry-accepted techniques, and make recommendations based on test and analysis findings.

 

Your "Day in the Life" :

  • Coordinate improvement projects related to issues found at customer sites and in product returns, and in other ways provide quality-based customer support for our Lighting division.
  • Generate corrective actions as a result of customer requests or internal reasons
  • Perform failure analysis, and work with engineering design teams, other departments, and vendors to resolve quality problems
  • Proactively determine ways to improve our first pass yield
  • Study scrap rates, and determine methods of reduction
  • Occasional travel from Minneapolis to other mid-west production sites and occasional international travel may be required. (Approximately 5%)

 

Knowledge and Experience you will need to succeed in this role:

Required:

  • Bachelors degree or higher in electrical, mechanical, manufacturing, industrial, or physics engineering and relevant experience
  • 2+ years of statistical analysis experience in a quality department for a manufacturer of electrical or mechanical products

Additional Preferred:

  • Experience in the electronics industry
  • Computer literacy in MS Office, databases, and statistical computer programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills sufficient to interface successfully with varied departments within organization
